About this spot

Tao Bay is a dive destination on Thailand's coast open to divers throughout the year. The site hosts documented marine life across 12 species observations, giving you a reliable baseline for what to expect underwater. Community videos available online show real conditions and help you plan your approach. The bay is outside a marine protected area, which shapes access and regulations. Current coral bleaching warnings mean conditions may vary by season—check recent reports before booking. Water conditions, depth ranges, and difficulty ratings are best confirmed with local dive operators who work the site regularly. Thailand's dive season peaks during dry months when visibility and water conditions favor most recreational diving, though Tao Bay's year-round accessibility means you can visit outside peak times if needed. Local knowledge is essential here; community videos and operator feedback give you the most current picture of reef health and marine activity.

  • Fantastic presentation. Great filming, and very informative. Having travelled in Thailand north to south (Chiang Mai - Krabi town), and am struggling to fill about 2 1/2 weeks in October. I have stayed in Surat Thani, so not nesessarily wanting to stay there again, but think I would take your option and fly down, then a taxi direct to the port, then out to Koh Tao.
