About this spot

Kuda Rah Thila is a submerged pinnacle in the South Ari Atoll that draws intermediate divers for its reliable shark activity and strong structural character. Blacktip reef sharks patrol the upper sections of the thila regularly, while great barracuda hang in loose aggregations mid-water, often visible at the 15-metre mark where the reef top begins. Descending to 30 metres, the walls carry dense invertebrate growth, and honeycomb morays tuck into crevices throughout the structure. Moderate currents run across the site and are largely what keeps the marine life concentrated and active here — divers should be comfortable managing drift and timing their descent. Visibility averages 30 metres, which makes reading the full profile of the pinnacle straightforward on most dives. Water temperature holds between 27 and 30°C year-round. The best windows are November through April, when conditions are most settled and visibility peaks. A surface marker buoy is practical given the open-water position of the thila.
