About this spot

Makani Beach Club El Gouna sits on Egypt's Red Sea coast near the resort town of El Gouna, a purpose-built destination that draws kiters from across the Middle East and beyond. The beach club provides direct access to the water with onsite amenities designed for the kite community. El Gouna's protected lagoon setting creates relatively consistent wind patterns that support year-round sessions, making it a reliable choice for both learning and progression. The area benefits from El Gouna's infrastructure: accommodation, restaurants, and services cluster nearby, reducing logistics friction. The beach club itself operates as a social hub where local and visiting kiters meet, swap conditions reports, and coordinate sessions. Shallow lagoon water near shore allows beginners to build confidence before venturing into deeper sections. Wind here tends toward steady sea breezes, particularly reliable in cooler months, though the Red Sea's tropical setting means sessions are possible throughout the year. The setup appeals to kiters who want facility support without the remoteness of outer reef breaks. Community members have documented sessions across multiple seasons, confirming consistent conditions.

FAQ

What's the best time to kite at Makani Beach Club El Gouna?

Year-round riding is possible, with wind patterns generally steady across seasons. The Red Sea's tropical climate supports consistent sessions, though local kiters can advise on month-to-month wind strength variations when you arrive.

Is Makani Beach Club beginner-friendly?

The lagoon setting offers shallow water close to shore, which supports learning and progression. The beach club's on-site setup also means instructors and experienced kiters are usually present, making it easier to get coaching or safety briefings.

What wildlife might I see while kiting?

The Red Sea hosts diverse marine life including tropical fish species and occasional larger pelagics. Community observations at this spot number 12 recorded sightings, typical of busy resort-area kiting zones. Respect local marine life and maintain distance.

Do I need permits or special access to kite here?

Makani Beach Club is not within a marine protected area, so standard Egyptian tourism rules apply. Check with the facility on any local requirements or rental/day-use fees before your session.

  • I haven't been in Makani beach, but I usually go to Kitepower (that is few hundred meters upwind). Very nice place, but you need shoes because of corals and shells.
