  • Maybe the reason they could never find him is because he had no intentions of coming back out of the cave. If you never plan on turning around you will go deeper than anyone is willing to go.

  • I recall watching a cave diving documentary (National Geographic, I believe) where they were exploring a supposedly fully mapped cave. At one point, they ended up in a silt cloud and scrambled for clear water; once clear of the silt, they were confronted with skeletal remains of someone in older dive gear. It turned out that a diver had mysteriously disappeared back in the 70's in an unknown side
