About this spot

Ginnie Spring offers a distinctive freshwater diving experience in the heart of Florida. Unlike ocean diving, you'll explore crystal-clear spring water, underwater caverns, and geological formations shaped by millennia of water flow. The spring's constant temperature and visibility make it accessible to divers throughout the year, whether you're a beginner exploring shallow areas or an experienced diver venturing into deeper cavern systems. The site attracts divers interested in unique ecosystems and underwater photography. The clarity of the water reveals intricate details of the spring's natural architecture—limestone formations, sand plains, and the characteristic blue depths. You'll encounter freshwater species and observe how spring systems function geologically. Ginnie Spring operates as a recreational diving destination with established access points and facilities. The site maintains good environmental conditions with no coral bleaching concerns. Divers should be prepared for the unique conditions of freshwater diving, including buoyancy differences from saltwater and the particular demands of spring cave diving if you venture into restricted areas. The location draws a dedicated community of divers. Available species observations and community videos document the site's character and help new divers understand what to expect.

  • Local here! Ginnie gets very busy most weekends with lots of college kids. It's a hell of a party because it's private party and alcohol is allowed, but it's not relaxing and empty like in this video. If you want this experience, go on in the middle of the week. It's worth it.

  • I was there this week. My husband, sister, and sister’s husband went on a short trip. The springs weren’t as busy as I’ve seen them get in other videos I watched for research purposes, but there were people there. Luckily not enough to make it feel crowded. We floated down the river on an inflatable rafter and got to see lots of turtles and just soak up the sun. We viewed Dogwood Spring and then w
