About this spot

Supersuck sits in Indonesia's Teluk Balas region, a location that attracts surfers seeking consistent, warm-water waves. The spot operates year-round, meaning you can plan a trip almost any month and find rideable conditions. Unlike some Indonesian breaks that shut down seasonally, Supersuck delivers reliable swell throughout the year, making it ideal for surfers who can't plan around narrow windows. The break sits outside a marine protected area, which means fewer bureaucratic constraints on access. Local marine records show diverse species observations in the region, suggesting a healthy ecosystem around the break. The area has a small community presence—three community-contributed videos exist—so you'll find some local insight and knowledge available online, though you won't encounter heavy crowds. Indonesia's tropical water stays warm year-round, and Supersuck is no exception. Getting there requires standard Indonesia travel logistics: passport, visa if required for your nationality, and the usual Southeast Asia transport chains. Once you arrive, the break is straightforward to access without special permits or licensing hurdles.

  • In 2009, my then 12 year old and I spent 19 days camped out on the beach at Super Suck. In my 43 years of surfing, the 8 second barrel I got there still ranks as the best ride of my life.
