About this spot

Gaja Rock sits near Nusa Kodang, a small island south of Komodo in East Nusa Tenggara. The site draws divers year-round and shows no signs of coral stress, indicating stable reef health. Twelve recorded species observations and three community videos suggest active exploration and a growing pool of local knowledge about what lives here. The reef appears to support diverse marine life typical of the Komodo region. Divers report encounters with various fish species and invertebrates, though specific depths and visibility conditions vary by season. The site is outside protected marine areas, so local regulations and weather patterns are the main factors affecting access. Community videos and species data come from divers who have logged dives here, making Gaja Rock a spot where your own observations will contribute to a shared record. The combination of accessible year-round conditions and healthy coral makes it a practical choice for explorers working the Komodo archipelago. Water conditions and exact site layout are best confirmed with local guides familiar with current patterns and seasonal changes.

  • Another epic adventure with you, dear Sam! Reaching Wayag is something no one can stay indifferent to — it's hands down the most breathtaking and remote place I’ve seen in all my expeditions across Indonesia. Our next expedition to Wayag aboard Jakare is set for April 2026 — only 4 spots left! And let’s not compare Misool and Wayag… they’re both must-sees, each in their own magical way. If you enj

  • Hopefully Raja Ampat remains a hidden gem and will be spared forever from mass tourims. I saw in Maldives how this affects the ecosystem where careless tourists walk on the coral canopy, break off the corals with their fins, touch and collect everything and 20 speedboats chase manta rays to drop of 200 tourists in life jackets. Seeing you diving with your arms crossed I know you are a professiona
