About this spot

Bay Beach Hire is a straightforward Australian surf destination that works across all seasons. The break draws both locals and visitors looking for reliable waves without the crowds of more famous spots. Bay Beach Hire sits outside marine protected areas, giving you straightforward access without permit concerns. Local knowledge counts here—swell direction and tide timing shape the best sessions. The community around the break is active, with video content available for checking conditions before you go. Nearby operators can provide boards and guidance if you're traveling without gear.

  • Very accurate. The lesser name spots, beach breaks and early morning are a pretty good way to go. Your shark mentions are spot on. For context in Queensland, zero fatalities on surfers on the Sunny Coast and just one on the Gold Coast in my 60 plus years (Greenmount 2020s). One white shark victim on Moreton Island around 1995 and a leg bitten off at North Straddie about 1972.

  • As an Ozzie surfer, you got that pretty right. Congrats. Shark tip... noahs are hard to see on cloudy afternoon days on remote beaches, take a friend with you.
