About this spot

Menara 2 sits outside a Marine Protected Area in Indonesia, making it accessible to divers year-round. The site has drawn attention from the diving community, with 3 videos documenting conditions and wildlife. Local records show 12 species observations, giving divers a sense of the marine life present. The site currently sits under a coral bleaching warning, a reminder that Indonesia's reefs face ongoing stress from ocean temperature changes. Divers visiting should be aware of reef health conditions and practice careful buoyancy and fin discipline to avoid contact with corals. Community contributions have built a baseline of knowledge about Menara 2, though detailed depth, visibility, and water temperature data remain limited. This makes the site best suited for divers willing to gather current conditions from local operators before entry. Year-round access means flexibility in planning, though seasonal weather patterns in Indonesia typically influence dive comfort.

  • My family are of the same tribe, and I grew up watching my uncles dive for food. They would be diving for hours with only a homemade harpoon as a tool. My cousins and I would dive for sea urchins and hunt eels as a pastime but also to bring food to the table. When there wasn't enough money to buy food, the sea always provided it.

  • The mother and child moment while the boy is just playing in the water and mom is looking for food is such a beautiful scene 😢

  • Raja ampat is expensive (even for us indonesians) cause it's under government policy to keep the minimum of people who go there, so that the marine life is not destroyed.
