About this spot

Moana Evasion sits off the coast of France and welcomes divers throughout the year. The site has built a modest community presence with species observations logged by visiting divers and video content documenting what's there below the surface. The spot remains relatively undocumented in terms of standard dive metrics—depth, visibility, and water temperature data aren't widely published. This lack of heavy documentation can mean fewer crowds and a chance to explore with less fanfare. The 12 species observations on file give you a sense of marine life to expect, though you'll want to check current conditions before gearing up. With three community videos available, you can scout footage shot by other divers to get a feel for the site's character. Moana Evasion isn't inside a marine protected area, so access is straightforward. Plan your trip around your own schedule since this location supports diving year-round.

  • What about lemon sharks. I want to swim with the lemons. Either way I need my passport if I have to dive alone.

  • Good stuff! Very informative and nicely put together. Can you recommend a tour guide/operator on Moorea? And is Bora Bora good for whale encounters? Going next October!

  • You might want to consider getting a pair of thermal binoculars. It will allow you to see any heat sources out there at night including engine heat and body heat. It will give you a lot more situational awareness while sailing at night and you can also use them during the day. They are expensive but could save your lives.

  • Both sailors had an extremely level-headed and professional response to the emergency. No useless screaming or panic, no grabbing the camera to record, just immediate action plan, clear communication, and execution of the necessary steps to survive. Absolutely incredible, and so happy you're safe. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us all. <3
